We interviewed Mioko about her creation:
Kokka Fabric (KF): What did you think of the fabric you used for this project?
The idea started with creating a simple gathered skirt that is easy for beginners to sew. When I came across this fabric, its balanced embroidery immediately stood out. It felt perfect for a skirt that highlights the fabric, and the luxurious texture adds elegance to a simple design.
KF: Can you tell us any special elements or ideas that you incorporated into this creation?
Cutting the fabric follows the flow of the embroidery pattern, eliminating the need for creating a pattern. The waistband is folded to insert elastic, keeping the design simple with just front and back panels.
KF: What are some tips for making this skirt?
The embroidery has a soft finish, making it easy to sew over. For best results, sew slowly when stitching across embroidered sections. The skirt length can be adjusted to your preference.
KF: How should we incorporate this skirt into one’s styling?
The delicate embroidery adds a soft, feminine touch to the skirt. It pairs well with casual outfits, like a T-shirt and sneakers, for an effortless look.
KF: Thank you very much, Yoko! Here are sewing instructions. Enjoy crafting!
